HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 19 (ACN) In a post on X, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla congratulated Francis Fonseca on his ratification as Belize's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and reiterated the island’s will to keep strengthening the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
In 2023, following then Foreign Minister Eamon Courtenay’s resignation, Belizean Prime Minister Johnny Briceño nominated Fonseca as the new chief diplomat and also kept him in charge of the Ministries of Education, Culture and Science, and Technology.
Cuba and Belize established diplomatic ties on July 15, 1995, although their cooperation in health started in 1990 and has continued since.
According to official sources, more than 1,000 Cuban health professionals have worked in the Central American country.
