Chelsea's next nine transfer deals assessed as summer plan becomes clear

It promises to be an extremely busy summer period for Chelsea on and off the pitch.

On the pitch, the Blues will be competing in the revamped FIFA Club World Cup - that starts in mid-June and if they were to go all the way, would end a month later - and behind the scenes, the club will be looking to improve their squad in time for the 2025/26 season. With it being an unusual summer because of the club's participation in the Club World Cup, Chelsea have decided to start early with their transfer business.

Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo have both been signed from Sporting CP. Quenda will arrive in the summer of 2026, while Essugo will move to Stamford Bridge before the start of the Club World Cup.

It is a promising start but there is so much business still to complete for Chelsea. A central striker is an absolute must this summer and the club will do their absolute best to get their man. On the list are the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen, Benjamin Sesko and Liam Delap, who are all tremendous options in their own right, but one definitely stands out.

Gyokeres, who is supposedly available for £84million in the summer, has a ridiculous goal scoring record over recent seasons. Portuguese league or not, this man knows how to find the back of the net. Since moving to Sporting in 2023, the 26-year-old striker has scored an incredible 83 goals in 91 appearances in all competitions. Gyokeres has assisted 25 times in the process, too. Not bad going, that.

The Sweden international, who is a physically imposing and speedy goal machine, could be the answer to Chelsea's attacking situation. Nicolas Jackson is great and he will continue to improve but his injury last month highlighted the Blues' need for another No.9. A top-class No.9.

Elsewhere, the west Londoners are looking at options on the left wing. It is no secret they considered signing one in the January transfer window, with the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Jamie Gittens and Mathys Tel all on their list. All three are good players with high ceilings, although the latter two probably stand out more than Garnacho because a large chunk of Chelsea supporters will have seen him on a more regular basis at Manchester United.

Tel looks Tottenham-bound in the summer. The French winger joined Spurs on loan over the mid-season window and the north Londoners are said to have an option to buy the winger. Meanwhile, Gittens could be available for around €80million (£66.8million) if reports in Germany are to be believed.

For such signings, however, some room - and money - will need to be made elsewhere. There are a number of players at Chelsea who face uncertain futures going into the summer transfer window and one of them is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Unless there is a dramatic turnaround in fortunes for the 26-year-old midfielder, he could well be on his way out of Stamford Bridge after just one season at the club.

There are also a number of players currently out on loan whose futures look to be away from SW6. Raheem Sterling has failed to impress at Arsenal, and while the Gunners may not want to make any deal permanent for the winger, there will be numerous interested clubs in the former Manchester City man's services come the summer.

Ben Chilwell is currently on loan at Crystal Palace and Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has made it clear as day to the left-back on multiple occasions that his future will be away from the club. Armando Broja has struggled with injuries during his loan at Everton and Chelsea could look to part company with the Albania international for good at the end of the season.

Kepa Arrizabalaga will have 12 months remaining on his deal when June rolls around and Chelsea will be looking to offload the Spanish goalkeeper, who has impressed on loan at Bournemouth. Joao Felix cannot seem to find a home wherever he goes. The plan for him at the moment is uncertain, but it is telling that AC Milan are quite reluctant to keep hold of him beyond his loan spell.

Axel Disasi, too, is out on loan. The Frenchman has done well at Aston Villa and the Blues will be hoping he continues to impress as it will make it easier - and more lucrative - for the club to sell the versatile defender in the summer of 2025.
