Everton look set to overhaul their squad in the summer transfer window, with several first-team players headed towards the exit door.

The return of David Moyes in January helped steer Everton away from the Premier League relegation zone in the club’s final season at Goodison Park, but there has to be more progress next season.

The summer window will provide a good opportunity for an overhaul which has been needed for some time, as several older players and underperformers can make way for younger talents and smarter signings.

Abdoulaye Doucoure is one player who is set to leave, whilst there are question marks over another attacking player in the squad.

Jack Harrison wants Everton stay beyond loan deal

Winger Jack Harrison has had a disappointing second season on loan at Everton from Leeds United, and as it stands, he is set to return to his parent club at the end of the season.

Harrison recently admitted his frustration over his disappointing campaign this season, but claimed that he wants to be part of the project as Everton move into their new stadium.

“On a personal level it’s been difficult and frustrating so far this season because I always want to be at my best and when you’re doing absolutely everything you can but it’s still not coming off, that can be really frustrating for everyone, myself and the fans,” he told the Liverpool Echo (20/03).

“It’s been the first period of my career, really, where I’ve not really been scoring any goals or contributing to the team as much as I’m used to doing.

“I think with new ownership, a new manager, and going to an amazing new stadium next season, this is somewhere I want to be.

“It would be exciting to be part of a bigger picture and help a club get from where we have been for the past couple of years to fighting for European football again, and then even more in the way of silverware.

“With the size of Everton and this fan base, with how passionate they are, there’s no reason why the club can’t achieve that, and who wouldn’t want to be part of it?”

Despite his desire to stay, Everton do have an obvious decision to make over the 28-year-old.

Everton should not re-sign Jack Harrison

As it stands, Leeds look set to return to the Premier League as they currently lead the Championship standings, but even if they are in the top flight, it appears likely that they will listen to offers for Harrison.

A deal to sign the Englishman again, possibly on a permanent transfer, could be straightforward. However, Everton must make the decision to move on from the attacker.

Harrison has regularly appeared under Moyes, but he has been far from convincing overall, with just one goal and zero assists in 29 games across all competitions.

With Everton hoping to make Carlos Alcaraz’s loan move permanent, the expectation should be that the club seeks to upgrade their wing options with a player who can contribute more in the final third than Harrison.

A younger, more dynamic option would benefit the club more in the short and long term than re-signing Harrison, and barring any dramatic upturn in form, these should be the winger’s final few months at Everton.
