Leeds United may benefit from a new twist involving Crysencio Summerville at West Ham United.

The former Elland Road star earned a £30million-plus move to the Premier League with West Ham in August 2024.

Summerville has struggled for game time at the London Stadium but Daniel Farke‘s side may yet receive a new windfall regardless.

Summerville set to land Leeds a new windfall

Former Leeds man Summerville could be set for a surprising change in national team, rather than playing for the Netherlands.

A report from Dutch outlet De Volksrant [18 March] claims that the 23-year-old has been approached by Suriname to play for them instead.

The move could land the Whites a £4m windfall if the player makes his first international appearance for his new country, even if that is not the Netherlands as many expected it would be.

Farke needs all the money he can get at Leeds

The Elland Road outfit need all the money that they can get if they are promoted to the Premier League for the first time since the 2022/23 season.

If the Whites can hold off Sheffield United and Burnley in the final eight matches of the campaign, they will need to severely improve the squad before the start of the new season.

The race for Premier League promotion

The likes of Southampton, Leicester and Ipswich Town are set to come straight back down to the second tier, showing that the gap between the divisions is higher than ever.

If Leeds are to survive, they need to upgrade in most positions otherwise Farke will struggle to keep them in the division.

Any potential extra windfall from the Summerville deal from the Irons will help the club to solidify their chances of survival, and maybe allow them to target a higher-quality of player than they would otherwise have been able to.

The likelihood of getting that money is more likely if the player makes the unexpected decision to play for Suriname rather than the Netherlands, as it will be easier to him to get into the squad and on the pitch and meet the criteria.
