Boehly not stopping: Chelsea now ready to move for £25m teenager after Quenda and Essugo

Having already agreed deals to sign Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo, Todd Boehly and Chelsea are now reportedly ready to sign yet another young gem ahead of the summer transfer window.

Chelsea spend big yet again

Despite failing to qualify for the Champions League last season, Chelsea spent big to welcome the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Pedro Neto last summer in the hope of forming a side capable of reaching the Premier League's top four. Now, almost a year later and under a new manager in Enzo Maresca, the Blues look destined to achieve that goal.

There is no rest for the wicked, however, and Boehly has once again turned his attention towards the summer transfer window - already agreeing deals to sign both Quenda and Essugo from Sporting CP. Spending a combined €72m (£60m) before the transfer window has even opened, the Blues once again wasted little time.

Even after the Sporting duo, Boehly is reportedly not done there. According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea are now ready to make their move to sign Jorrel Hato ahead of the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal this summer.

The Ajax defender, reportedly valued at around €30m (£25m), is still just 19 years old but has seemingly done enough to find himself on the radar of a number of Premier League sides.

Chelsea's Cole Palmer reacts Related

The Blues have set their sights on a forward with a similar play-style to talisman Cole Palmer.

A left-back by trade, Hato could bring an end to any doubt down Chelsea's left-hand side and perhaps steal in ahead of Marc Cucurella in Maresca's strongest side. However, amid interest from elsewhere, whether the Dutchman becomes the latest young gem to arrive in west London remains to be seen.

"Exciting" Hato could eventually replace Cucurella

Even if Hato is not quite ready to replace Cucurella this summer, that should be Chelsea's long-term aim. Meanwhile, the Dutchman's ability to fill in at centre-back should ensure that he doesn't struggle for game time in a squad filled to the brim with young talent.

Hato has earned plenty of praise during his rise through the ranks at Ajax, including from football talent scout Jacek Kulig who dubbed the 19-year-old "one of the most exciting" left-footed centre-backs in world football.

What Boehly wants at Chelsea, he usually gets - and that may be no different in his pursuit of Hato this summer.

It's been clear throughout the current campaign that even as they sit fourth, Maresca's side are far from the finished article. Alas, the arrival of an improved left-back could go a long way towards reaching that stage at Stamford Bridge.
