Robin Olsen has revealed he has not held any talks with Aston Villa about a new contract.
But the 35-year-old Swedish goalkeeper admits he is open to staying at Villa Park beyond the end of this season when his current deal expires.
“We have so many positive things to look forward to at the club,” he said. “When I came to Aston Villa we were at the bottom, and to be part of the journey that we started when Unai (Emery) came in is incredible. It’s fantastic to be a part of it.
“When we have made it this far in the Champions League, have a chance at the FA Cup and a chance to climb up in the Premier League, I see absolutely no reason to leave it.”
Villa have reached the quarter-finals of both the Champions League and FA Cup this season and are in the battle for a top-four finish in the Premier League..
Olsen has played three times in the Premier League this season - making one start when Emi Martinez was injured - and once in the FA Cup.
With his contract with Villa set to end this summer, he has been linked with a move away from Villa Park.
“We’ll see how it goes,” he added. “Now I will try to enjoy the final matches, the last few months. Then we’ll see.
“It is a choice to be made. But again, it’s a choice that has to suit me but, above all, the family. It’s important to think everything through because it’s not as simple as just packing your bag and leaving. There’s a lot more to be done.
“School for the children will be the most important thing. We are super happy with how things are for the kids right now back home in England.
“We will see. We’re keeping everything open and then we’ll take it from there. We’re busy with other things. The club is doing great, so people are very focused on the end now. We have a lot of games that mean a lot to the club. So, we haven’t talked about it.”
