Scott Lindsey has returned to Crawley Town and has started to build his coaching staff immediately as he takes charge of the side ahead of their crunch match with Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

The club announced the return of the 52-year-old at midnight last night for his second spell at the Broadfield Stadium.

And in the club’s statement they said Louis Storey, Antony Sweeney and Steve Hafner had all left the club as Lindsey takes immediate charge.

And this morning, it has been revealed Neil Smith, who is manager of Cray Wanderers, will be leaving the Isthmian Premier side to join Lindsey’s staff.

Cray chairman Gary Hillman posted on X: “Following discussions late last night with @crawleytown - I can confirm that @neil_smudge has been released to join the management team there – @OfficialWands would like to thank Neil for everything he has done for the club and wish him all the best in #EFL”

Trevor Knell replied to the post. He said: “Great opportunity for Smudge, but what a job he's done for the Wands, tough act to follow!”

Smith, 53, played more than 200 games for Gillingham and more than 70 for Fulham in his playing career.

He managed Woking, Welling United and Bromley before Cray.
