The LKS Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong (HKUMed) is actively recruiting outstanding scholars through its ‘140 for 140 Global Recruitment Campaign’ to cope with rapid developments in teaching and research, particularly in fields like medical research, artificial intelligence and big data, and the expanding research collaboration with Mainland China and countries around the world. In May, Professor Chak-sing Lau, Vice-President & Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health) and Dean of Medicine, will lead a delegation to London, UK, to conduct recruitment activities which has received the full support of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in London. The delegation will also visit top institutions in London, including the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, King's College London, the University College London, and the University of Bristol, to strengthen collaboration opportunities. Another recruitment event will take place in Toronto in August.
Members of the delegation to London include Professor Ivan Hung Fan-ngai, Associate Dean (Partnership & Engagement); Professor Michael Häusser, Director of the School of Biomedical Sciences and Chair Professor of Neuroscience; and Professor Khuloud T Al-Jamal, Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy. During the two-day event, they will present the latest developments and achievements of HKUMed, highlight the talent needed for different academic fields and hold in-depth exchanges with participants, healthcare professionals and researchers. The delegation will also promote taught postgraduate and undergraduate programmes provided by the Faculty to interested parties, and will host an alumni gathering to connect with local alumni.
In 2023, HKUMed paid visits to various cities, including Orlando, Florida, US, Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, and London, UK, for global talent acquisition. Trips were also arranged last year to San Diego, US, London and Manchester, UK, Vienna, Austria, and Barcelona, Spain.
