Kalvin Phillips will be at Leeds United next season regardless of promotion – It is a deal that …

Kalvin Phillips has been heavily linked with a move to Leeds United in the summer transfer window. Whites supporters are divided on the prospect of the midfielder returning to Elland Road but it seems the move is edging closer. However, it has been claimed that even if Leeds do not get promoted, the 29-year-old will be in West Yorkshire next season.

The midfielder is currently on loan at Ipswich Town from Manchester City but the Tractor Boys are set to get relegated and the defending Premier League champions do not want him back in the summer.

Manchester City are keen to let him go in the next transfer window and Leeds are said to be working on a deal to sign him provided they get promoted to the Premier League.

Kalvin Phillips wants to return to Leeds in the summer and it has been claimed that even if Leeds do not get promoted, the player will be at Elland Road next season.

Leeds working on a deal to sign Kalvin Phillips

The 29-year-old wants to rekindle his career after three difficult years and a return to Leeds appeals to him given his love for the club and the success he enjoyed at Elland Road.

Journalist Graeme Bailey has claimed that the midfielder returning to Leeds is a real possibility as there is a willingness on all sides to get the deal over the line.

He claimed the 49ers are considering signing him on a loan deal if it makes financial sense and even if Leeds do not get promoted, he believes Phillips will be at his boyhood club next season.

“I firmly believe Phillips will return to Leeds”, Bailey told Leeds United News

“A loan deal would be appealing to them and fit in with their budget – whether that was Premier League or Championship. I fully expect Leeds to get promoted but even if they didn’t I believe he will be at Elland Road next season.”

Phillips’ return to Leeds seems inevitable

There is no smoke without fire and for now, it seems there is far too much smoke in there for this deal not to happen in the summer transfer window.

Leeds fans are still not convinced about the midfielder returning to Leeds but it seems the club are pushing hard to secure his move in the coming months.

It seems a loan deal is on the cards and Manchester City would have to agree to subsidise a major part of his £150,000 per week wages to make financial sense to Leeds.

However, it seems work is being done behind the scenes for Leeds to sign Phillips and if he agrees to return to the club even without Premier League football, it shows his desperation.
