Man United join the race for Mikel Arteta’s favourite winger target

Man United have joined the race to sign highly rated young winger this summer. The player is heavily linked with a move to Arsenal and is top target for Mikel Arteta.

The star in question here is Nico Williams who currently plays for Athletic Club. He has been superb in recent seasons and has attracted interest from multiple top clubs. One name that has been constantly linked with him is Arsenal.

Gunners tried to sign Williams in summer 2024. They were impressed with the player’s performances in Euro 2024 for Spain. But, the deal was unable to advance and hence Williams had to stay at Athletic Club.

Williams kept on impressing and Gunners also retained their interest in him. They are said to try and sign him once again this summer. The player too has been reported to have given green light to join the North London club.

Athletic Club are prepared to let Williams leave but are demanding his relase clause to be paid fully. The 22 year old has €58 million release clause which Arsenal can manage to trigger. But, they have now joined by their English rivals in the race.

However, United may still struggle to convince Williams ahead of Arsenal. They are set to miss out on all European competitions for the next season. Their only hope is to win the Europa League and qualify to UCL.

Williams will continue to impress other clubs in order to join a top club. He has so far scored 9 goals and picked 7 assists this season. In addition, he has also been superb for Spain national team and even scored last night against Netherlands.
