Jets Called ‘Perfect Fit’ By Newest Buckeye Signee

Most free agents in the NFL aren't to excited about having to go from one team as a starter to being a backup on another - especially when the backup role is coming on a team that has been historically bad.

Not recently signed center Josh Myers of the New York Jets.

Myers comes to the team with the expectation he will add needed depth behind Alijah Vera-Tucker and Joe Tippmann along the offensive line. But what made the Jets so appealing to the former Green Bay Packers starting center was the real fact that the Jets had many of his former Ohio State college teammates on the roster.

From Garrett Wilson to Justin Fields, the Jets ended up being a no-brainer for Myers.

"I spoke with my agent a lot about where we wanted to end up landing," Myers said. "The more we talked about it and the more we thought about it, the more the Jets just seemed like the perfect fit. For one, just everything I've got with Justin [Fields], just the camaraderie we have. Also, we like the direction the team's going in and we're really excited for it."

Just because he'll be with familiar faces, though, does not mean that Myers won't have an adjustment coming his way.

Even if he has experienced what playing for one of the top college programs in the country looks like.

"For one, it'll be an entirely new experience," Myers said. "Coming from Green Bay, the smallest market, to really the biggest. It's going to be a cool experience. Also, like you said, getting to play with former teammates and getting another year in the league is just awesome."

The Jets need depth along the offensive line. With his starting experience, Myers is the perfect fit that is needed for New York moving forward.
