Chelsea Faces a Wild Summer: Club World Cup, Big Transfers

This is soon to be a rollercoaster ride of a summer for Chelsea fans. FIFA revamped the Club World Cup for the players. Given how much time is running down to the 2025/26 season, Chelsea is not sitting on their laurels in reinforcing their squad.

They have already bought strikes in Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo from Sporting CP. Essugo will pull on his boots at Stamford Bridge before the Club World Cup opens in June, but Quenda will be at Stamford Bridge for 2026. Clearly, this is only the start for Chelsea.

Chelsea’s Striker Hunt: Who’s the Perfect No. 9?

And honestly, Chelsea is a team needing a top-class striker like London needs tea. Nicolas Jackson has great promise and is a guy Joey should have on his roster, but the attack is a joke when he’s injured—a kitten with a pistol. Enter the contenders:

This man is hate goals terror, and it’s incredible that he is now a center forward. Considering he arrived at Sporting in 2023, he’s struck 83 times from 91 outings; that’s no striker; that’s a cheat code. He is, however, priced at a hefty £84 million.

Victor Osimhen is fast, lethal, and efficient. He has shot up to becoming one of the most wanted in Europe.

Benjamin Sesko: Young, tall, and a nightmare for defenders.

Liam Delap—the one wildcard—has raw talent and could be a future star.

Gyokeres is the guy, the Welsh believe, if Chelsea is serious about competing at the highest level. It’s a commitment, though, of £84 million, just as much as it would be to buy a sports car during a midlife crisis.

Left Wing Dilemmas: Who’s on the Radar?

Chelsea need a glow up on the left wing, and the shortlist is:

Young and exciting, Alejandro Garnacho—a long shot.

Chelsea’s willing to cough it up and Jamie Gittens is quick, creative and can be procured for about €80 million (£66.8 million).

Then Cross him off: Mathys Tel—Tottenham looks to have this one wrapped up.

Playing it seat of the pants probably isn’t wise at this time of year considering the Club World Cup and a full run at the domestic season.
