Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes names the 'best player in the world' and it's not…

Newcastle United fans would not begrudge Bruno Guimaraes calling Alexander Isak the best player in the world.

He is certainly one of the best strikers in the world, with Alexander Isak netting his 23rd goal of the season on Sunday as Newcastle United won the Carabao Cup.

It was a stunning finish from the 25-year-old, who is enjoying another spectacular season in the black and white of Newcastle United.

He truly is an elite player, but Bruno Guimaraes believes the title of best in the world belongs to another one of his teammates.

Bruno Guimaraes sends message to Vinicius Junior

Brazil beat Colombia 2-1 in the early hours of Friday morning thanks to Vinicius Junior. The Real Madrid superstar scored the winner in the ninth minute of stoppage time.

After the game, Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes posted a selfie on his official Instagram story alongside Vinicius.

Accompanying the picture, Bruno included the message: “Melhor do mundo.”

That translates to ‘best in the world’.

Bruno’s declaration comes after Vinicius missed out on the 2024 Ballon d’Or to Manchester City powerhouse Rodri.

PIF targeting Vinicius Junior

While PIF want Newcastle to become an elite club, they also have other football aspirations.

They also own clubs in Saudi Arabia, and are eager to get more eyes on the Saudi Pro League.

For that to happen, they need more superstars to join the league and play alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronalo, Sadio Mane and Riyad Mahrez.

With that in mind, it has been reported that PIF want to sign Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid.

It would take a world record fee to sign the 24-year-old, and it would be a huge shock if the Brazilian megastar took his talents to the Middle East.

Next on the agenda for Vinicius is a World Cup qualifier against Argentina. They face their biggest rivals in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with Bruno Guimaraes suspended for the game.
