Eagles Free Agent Recruiting ‘Hidden Secret’ Revealed By Scout

The Philadelphia Eagles have never been perfect in free agency. They just happen to be the lone team who never gets deterred from missing on certain individuals.

A big reason for that is the owner in Jeffrey Lurie always willing to cut a check out, but also the aggressive nature of general manager Howie Roseman. One former assistant to Roseman, though, believes there's another reason why the Eagles always seem to be aggressive at this time of year.

Scout Daniel Jeremiah, one of the top Draft experts on national television, broke down the Eagles latest signing of Azeez Ojulari to a one-year deal, and the hidden secret as to why the Eagles are always seemingly able to sign veterans to short, one-term deals.

"I was talking to a coach about certain teams and organizations, the Eagles being one of them. And this was a great point that he brought up. If you're gonna go on one of these one-year prove it deals he was like, 'Do you want to go to a 1 p.m. Sunday team?'" Jeremiah explained on his Move The Sticks podcast. "I won't throw the team he mentioned under the bus but he mentioned one of those NFC South teams, and he was like, 'You wanna go there? Play at 1 every Sunday?'

"Or you can go to a team like the Eagles, be on the national stage, you're in the 4 p.m. window, you're playing Sunday night, Monday, big stages, big games, everybody's watching, everybody's paying attention.

"Your seven sacks you get with the Philadelphia Eagles can end up being more valuable than the seven sacks you might get in the NFC South is what he was mentioning. "

Ojulari was a nice example because he received higher offers to other teams but chose to come to Philly instead.

As a top contender and defending champ, the Eagles clearly can negotiate with any player hoping to get the best out of their career. It's a sign that they aren't done in free agency, either.
