Arsenal hit hard yet again by International break curse

Arsenal have already lost many of their key players this season due to injuries. Most of these players were injured while playing for their respective countries. The International break curse continues as one more regualar player of Gunners squad has been injured.

Arsenal star injured while playing for Italy

The star in question is Arsenal’s summer 2024 signing Riccardo Calafiori. The Italian started the game against Germany on the left hand side of defence. He suffered an injury during the game and received treatment on the field. But, the 22 year old was unable to continue and hence had to leave the pitch on 92nd minute.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Calafiori will undergo the test today to understand the seriousness of injury. The injury blow was not looking serious as he was able to leave without crutches. When asked about his condition, the Arsenal star said that it is not good but he does not know anything yet.

“We still don’t know if he’s injured. Ricky feels something strange at his knee but we still don’t know” – Italy coach Luciano Spalletti about Calafiori’s injury.

This will come as a big blow for Arsenal. Mikel Arteta will hope that it is nothing serious especially in such a crucial time of the season. Gunners are set to face Real Madrid in the quarter finals of the Champions League and Arteta will like to have his full squad fit for the game.

Calafiori has been a decent addition to the Arsenal side. He has played 26 games this season and has managed to do well both offensively and defensively. He has registered 3 goals and picked 2 assists in the Gunners jersey. The 22 year old has been first choice left-back for Mikel Arteta. But, he has lost his place multiple times to Lewis-Skelly due to injuries.
