Wolves star Matheus Cunha to miss Town clash as FA extend ban

The Brazilian was given a straight red card for a headbutt on Milos Kerkez during an FA Cup tie against Bournemouth. As a result, he has missed the draw against Everton and the win at Southampton. He'll also be unavailable against West Ham on Tuesday, April 1st.

The FA's independent Regulatory Commission, however, looked into the incident and opted to impose a further one-match suspension and a £50,000 fine.

'The Wolverhampton Wanderers forward was charged with acting in an improper manner after he was sent off around the 121st minute of their FA Cup tie against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday 1 March," a statement confirmed.

"The player subsequently admitted the charge. Matheus Cunha will now be suspended from domestic football until Sunday 13 April."

This isn't Cunha's first ban of the season. He was suspended for two matches after an incident following Town's win at Molineux. A letter of apology written to an Ipswich security guard - who he hit on the back of the head before pulling his glasses off his face - saw his punishment reduced.

Wolves sit one place and nine points above the Blues, who occupy the last relegation spot, with nine games to play.
