As per Chris Jack of the Rangers Review [20 March], multiple sources close to Rangers have also confirmed that the 49ers group’s technical director, Gretar Steinsson, is not formally a part of the interview process.

Rangers are said to be preparing for a “significant” summer of transfer activity, with lessons to learn from 2024 when a large number of targets were being looked at, rather than being whittled down further.

Rangers’ summer transfer plans
Multiple sources have indicated that Rangers’ summer plans are fluid because of their uncertainty regarding the owners, the manager and the sporting director – three stakeholders who are key in signing new players.
While the process to appoint the new sporting director continues, interim manager Ferguson has done an exceptional job since taking over the reins from Philippe Clement.
The Scottish manager has guided Rangers to the quarter-finals of the Europa League and also established the team’s performances in the Premiership.
Ferguson has made an excellent impression to be considered as a candidate for the permanent role. The new owners will have a say in the new managerial appointment and Ferguson has made a strong case for himself.
