Arsenal are on the verge of securing a new long-term contract for rising star Ethan Nwaneri, rewarding his exceptional progress this season. According to Mail Sport, the proposed deal could extend up to five years, reinforcing the club’s commitment to the teenage sensation.
Nwaneri, one of Arsenal’s most exciting young prospects, has stepped up impressively in the absence of Bukayo Saka, contributing eight goals in 29 appearances while playing predominantly on the right wing. The 18-year-old initially signed his first professional contract last year at the earliest possible age of 17, committing to a three-year deal. Now, with his rapid development exceeding expectations, Arsenal are keen to tie him down for the long term.
The Gunners have had to fend off interest from Chelsea and Manchester City in the past, and securing Nwaneri’s future would be a significant statement of intent. The teenager, currently away with England’s U21 squad for friendlies against France and Portugal, has already etched his name into the club’s history books.

Nwaneri’s breakout season has been nothing short of remarkable. His eight goals in Arsenal colors make him the club’s joint-highest men’s first-team scorer before turning 18—level with John Radford, who set the record in 1965. Radford, who later became Arsenal’s fourth-highest all-time goalscorer, famously netted a hat-trick against Wolves at 17 years and 315 days.

The young forward has already surpassed the goal-scoring feats of Arsenal legends such as Cliff Bastin and Cesc Fabregas. He became the youngest player in English top-flight history when he made his debut against Brentford in September 2022 at just 15 years and 181 days old.

This season, he has continued to break records, scoring in multiple competitions. His first Premier League goal came against Nottingham Forest in November, making him the ninth-youngest scorer in the league’s history. He followed it up with a stunning solo strike against Brighton, back-to-back Champions League goals against Girona and PSV Eindhoven—making him the youngest player to achieve that feat—and a sensational curler against Manchester City, which earned a Premier League Goal of the Month nomination.
Ethan Nwaneri ’s contract extension is part of Arsenal’s broader focus on securing key players for the future. He is among a trio of important squad members whose current deals expire in 2027.
Defensive stalwarts William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães also have two years left on their contracts, and both are expected to attract interest from Europe’s elite clubs. Arsenal will be eager to solidify their squad’s long-term stability as they continue their push for domestic and European success.
