Aston Villa vs Manchester United: Team News & Possible Line-ups

The possible line-ups are derived from previous match days. We take into consideration how strong the opponents are, what players are injured and of course team news before the match.

Team News Aston Villa

Head coach Natalia Arroyo started her press conference ahead of Manchester United with team news:

“Good news. We will have Lucy Staniforth with us. She was training with us, and she will be part of the squad. The others are okay, are fit.”

Maritz is suspended so she will not be available.

What the coach has to say:

On the defeat against Crystal Palace: “It was a tough one. We tried our best. Probably we were too nervous in that game, too much in a rush, too much wanting to win from the first minute. We were playing the game they were waiting for and wanting to play.

“Conceding the goal put us in a difficult situation. We are again talking about that. How can we manage our emotions in a way that are not bad for us. But that can help us wanting this, going for the win. We need to manage it properly.”

On Manchester United: “They deserved these big ambitions. They were from the beginning one of the better teams defending. It was very difficult to score a goal against them. They find this out-of-possession performance, not by waiting teams to come.

“They were super aggressive, pressing high and they are still this team that force things to happen. Force the games to be the way that they want. They are supper physical, athletic wise, probably one of the strongest squads in the league.”

Team News Manchester United

Marc Skinner had a really positive squad update: “I am expecting everyone to train today. We’ve got everybody up for selection, which is positive. Gabby [George] came off with a foot injury but seems to be okay. She has trained today. Hopefully a full squad to pick from.”

What the coach has to say:

Marc Skinner reflects on the loss against Liverpool: “We had really good reflections. Is a little bit like the reverse of the Tottenham game early in the season. Where we didn’t particularly play that great, but we won the game 3-0. We had good territory in the game, but we missed opportunities to deliver quality in the final third.”

On Aston Villa and how they should take that test: “With every bit of awareness and energy. When I look at Villa, they are in a relegation fight. They are not used to that. They are going to try and fight for their status in the league.

“It’s a fantastic club; it has fantastic players. For whatever reason it’s hasn’t clicked yet this season. They are going to be high energy; they are at home. We have to overcome all these little barriers, the psychological barriers of football that are always in your way. And we have to perform.”
