David Moyes replaced Sean Dyche as Everton boss back in January as Everton were sat just one point above the relegation zone.
Since Moyes‘ arrival at Goodison Park, the Toffees have seen their form improve dramatically and they now sit 17 points clear of the relegation zone instead.
Moyes’ tenure has also coincided with the direction of new owners in Merseyside while Dyche was forced to put up with Farhad Moshiri’s tenure, which he argues created core differences.

Dyche reflects on Everton spell
Although Everton were in a terrible position for much of their time under Dyche, many feel as though he is deserved a bit of a let-off given what the club had to contest with off the pitch.
Under Dyche’s management, the Blues were given a points deduction for breaching financial rules and were constantly battling at the top of the table.

That being said, even under the new ownership, the boss was struggling to show significant improvement on the pitch which left the Friedkin Group choosing to part ways.
Given just how much Dyche had been forced to contend with over his time, it seemed like there was fatigue throughout the club and change was necessary.
Since Moyes’ return to Goodison, Everton have looked like a different team with the boss overseeing 10 games and only losing one.
When asked about his time with the Blues live on talkSPORT (21 March, 9:31am), Dyche admitted he knew this would come as he said: “I come out of it strangely, I know there’s a mixed bag of people who agree and disagree, but I look back on it as a very successful couple of years because the club was in a really bad state. It’s a big club that was in a poor situation.
“So to guide it through that and hand it over, I said when I left in my statement they were in good shape, few people questioned that but it’s been proved right because Moyes has come in there and is doing great with them just adding a new voice, a new flavour, different details to what he wants to do.
“I think it wasn’t far away from being better than it was showing at that time but the change was probably at the right time after me and my staff, many others, Kevin Thelwell doing a very good job to revitalise the club if you like.”
Moyes to oversee brighter times at Everton
Dyche does deserve plenty of credit for what he did with Everton over a difficult period but, as he says himself, a change felt like it was the correct thing for all parties.
Although it feels like it’s easy for Dyche to say he knew change was coming, in three of his last five games, his side had taken a point from Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City which is certainly not an easy task.

Nevertheless, a new era is underway at Goodison now with new ownership, a new manager and new backroom staff set to arrive while the mentioned Kevin Thelwell is leaving his role.
With the Toffees showing much-improved form and preparing for a move to Bramley-Moore Dock, the future certainly looks bright on Goodison and the summer transfer window could be a big part of that.
Dyche will no doubt be appreciated for what he did but there is no question that Moyes has been responsible for overseeing a monumental change at Everton.
