Virgil van Dijk heaps praise on Barcelona youngster
The 18-year-old Spanish defender Pau Cubarsi has been outstanding for Barcelona and his national team.
Van Dijk was full of praise for him after their Nations League clash, saying, “Pau Cubarsi is simply exceptional. I think he has a huge talent, he is a special player.”
At just 18, Cubarsi is already showing maturity beyond his years.
Van Dijk highlighted his composure and passing ability, adding, “He is only 18 years old and he is playing excellently at this level, he is already impressive.”
The Dutchman also pointed out an important aspect of Cubarsi’s game that makes him stand out.
“He also looks for long passes, he’s good at that part of the game too,” Van Dijk said.
For a player of Van Dijk’s stature to praise Cubarsi this highly says a lot.
If the Barcelona youngster continues on this path, he could indeed be a defender who “leaves an era behind.”
