Alvarez mainly plays as holding midfielder but is also able to play as central midfielder. In addition, he is also able to play as centre-back which makes him unique. The Mexican has so far played 68 games for Hammers and has registered 2 goals along with 3 assists.
Alvarez has been regular member for Mexico national team since 2017. He has played 84 games for his country so far and has even scored for them on 5 different occasions. He recently played as centre-back against Canada and helped Mexico secure a clean sheet.
