Man City face 115 charges over alleged financial rule breaches, which they deny

Former Premier League CEO Keith Wyness has suggested that Manchester City may avoid punishment regarding their legal case with the English top-flight over 115 charges of alleged financial rule breaches.

City boss Pep Guardiola disclosed in February that he anticipates a verdict 'in a month' following the hearing that occurred from September to December of the previous year before an independent panel. The club has fervently refuted all allegations.

Speculation is rife regarding the potential consequences for City should they be deemed guilty. Rumours span from relegation and financial penalties to points deductions and even the stripping of titles.

But former Aston Villa and Everton CEO Wyness has claimed to have heard rumours that the outcome will see City avoiding punishment.

"All the rumours and there's both sides of the rumour mill are going strongly that Man City are gonna escape, that there's a settlement being done behind the scenes - to the Premier League may well win," he told Football Insider.

"So right now you just pick your rumour and see where it goes. My own gut feeling and the sources that I've been trusting so far would tend towards City doing quite well in this case.

"But I don't think both parties will come out of it unscathed. Let's just wait and see."

Manchester City wrapped up the 2023/24 season with a fourth successive Premier League title, but they missed out on another Treble with defeat in the FA Cup final and Champions League quarter-finals. It's now time for Pep Guardiola and co to turn their attention to the transfer window.
