Thomas Tuchel has named Marcus Rashford in his first England starting side.
The Three Lions are entering a new era under the German - and he's already made his first big call after taking over from Gareth Southgate. Rashford was a shock inclusion in the squad after his recent struggles at Manchester United.
He had been frozen out of Ruben Amorim's side - and a move to Aston Villa has seen him start to return to form. And after an England recall, he has now been named in Tuchel's starting side.
"Rashford and Foden in the starting XI. Pathetic, picked on reputation rather than form," one fan fumed. While a second said: "Tuchel dropping Gibbs-White for Rashford needs to be treated as an act of terror..."
A third posted: "Tuchel just continuing the way all those previous managers who picked the team based on reputation and club. how is Foden, Rashford, Walker, Jones are all making the starting 11. Amazing..."
And another added: "That's a big vote of confidence for Marcus Rashford to start for England against Albania in Thomas Tuchel's first match. He's looked very bright in parts for Aston Villa.
"But others have played more consistently over the past few months..."
Speaking about Rashford ahead of the fixture, Tuchel said: "I had the feeling that we need to reward him now, we need to feel him, he needs to be close to me, that he does not fall back into old routines.
"He stepped up his game impressively [at Villa] against the ball. This is the most important point for him – the intensity after ball loss. The tracking back on the side.
"The sprinting. The hunting down. Making sure you’re in position.
“That he can bully defenders, we know all that … we forgot a little bit about it but we know it. He is a complete package. But at the same time, we want to make sure that he stays on track.”
