Warriors Make Unfortunate Steph Curry Announcement After Win Over Raptors

Golden State Warriors fans have presumably been through the wringer over the last 24 hours.

Star point guard Stephen Curry left Thursday's 117-114 win over the Toronto Raptors in the third quarter after taking a hard, awkward fall. He didn't return, and Warriors fans were left holding their collective breath as the 11-time All-Star underwent evaluation to determine the severity of his injury.

Winners of 14 of their last 16, the Warriors (41-29) are right in the thick of the playoff race. They currently occupy the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference 1.5 games ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers in the standings.

Needless to say, Golden State's playoff odds take a significant hit with any time that Curry misses. And while the team doesn't have a complete answer on Curry's status, it did give fans an update on where his situation sits.

"Stephen Curry, who exited last night's game against the Raptors with 3:24 remaining in the third quarter after falling to the floor, underwent an MRI last night," the Warriors official X account tweeted.

"The MRI indicated that Curry suffered a pelvic contusion, but no structural damage. He will not travel with the team to Atlanta this morning and will not play in tomorrow night's game against the Hawks. He will be re-evaluated on Monday."

ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Curry will miss the start of Golden State's upcoming road trip and will receive treatment "over the next few days."

While somewhat ambiguous, Charania's report could mean Curry misses multiple games, or he could theoretically return for Tuesday night's game against the Miami Heat.

It's likely the Warriors will reveal a more definitive timeline for Curry's return on Monday. Eight of Golden State's final 12 regular-season games are against teams currently in playoff position, so if Curry misses any time, the Warriors' playoff hopes could take a serious hit.
