The New England Patriots recently had Stefon Diggs in for a Free Agent Visit. This had many Patriots fans excited for the possible impact that Diggs would have in Foxborough. Unfortunately, Diggs left Gillette Stadium without a new deal, and it is reported that the two sides will stay in touch. If New England’s Front Office can work some magic and get a deal done with Diggs, they could potentially create a dynamic duo at receiver in April, if Travis Hunter falls to pick four in the NFL Draft. What could that look like in a Josh McDaniels Offense? How would this impact Drake Maye? There are many questions to be answered and it all starts with getting Diggs and Hunter to New England.

If Travis Hunter falls to the Patriots when the Draft rolls around in April, they should not hesitate to pick him. Hunter is one of the best athletes in all of college football and finished 2024 with 16 touchdowns. Some people believe he will be a better corner in the NFL, however, he has some incredible film at receiver. His route running and quickness immediately jump off the film at you, and whenever he has the ball in his hands, he is a threat to score. This is exactly what the Patriots need, a true weapon to grow and develop alongside Drake Maye. If Hunter reaches his full potential as a receiver in the NFL, it is going to be a nightmare for opposing defenses to gameplan against him.

If the Patriots manage to sign Diggs and draft Travis Hunter, their offense could be very dangerous once Diggs is fully healthy. Diggs is recovering from an ACL tear he suffered in October last season. Luckily for him, ACL tears aren’t as bad as they used to be. Many athletes can bounce back to elite levels after an ACL reconstruction. So if Diggs is on track in his recovery, and New England can have Hunter as a complement, there could be some serious scoring in Gillette Stadium. With the elite route running of Diggs, and the explosive athleticism of Hunter, the Patriots offense will be very difficult to stop, especially with an elite arm talent at quarterback in Drake Maye.
How will Josh McDaniels utilize this firepower in the offense?

Josh McDaniels is an incredible offensive mind. The thought of giving him two big time weapons, and a quarterback that can make any throw you need him to, is something that should have Patriots fans jumping out of their seats. If Hunter and Diggs both end up in Foxborough, it will be very interesting to see how McDaniels utilizes their skillsets.

The Patriots have had a rough couple of years, however, the future looks bright. Drake Maye looks like he could turn into an MVP level quarterback, and with him in place for the foreseeable future, it will allow New England to try and add as much talent around him as possible. They should start with signing Stefon Diggs as a reliable veteran, and draft Travis Hunter as a young weapon to develop with Maye. By adding these two playmakers, the Patriots could finally compete in the AFC East again, and may even have a chance to compete for a Wild Card Playoff spot in 2025.
