Houston Rockets head coach Ime Udoka has proven to be one of the better coaches in the NBA this season. In the two seasons that Udoka joined the Rockets he has been very instrumental in turning the organization into a winning franchise. The three seasons before Udoka the Rockets had a combined 59 wins in 246 games.
In the last two seasons under coach Udoka's leadership, the Rockets have currently won 86 games in 152 games played. Since taking over as head coach on April 24, 2023, Udoka has instilled a culture of defensive intensity, accountability, and efficient offensive execution. Under his guidance, the Rockets have taken significant strides, shaking off their rebuilding phase and emerging as a legitimate playoff contender.
Udoka's system has unlocked the potential of young stars like Jalen Green, Alperen Şengün, and Jabari Smith Jr., while also maximizing the contributions of veteran leaders. Houston's resilience in close games has been a defining factor, with multiple late-game rallies sealing crucial victories. The Rockets have the right nucleus for a deep run in the playoffs with Udoka and a good young roster.
His ability to maximize player potential and adjust game plans has been instrumental in the team's success. The Rockets should have continued success as they move towards the playoffs.
