Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana showed his attacking acumen when he gave free-kick advice to Brentford ace Bryan Mbuemo.
Onana was in action on Wednesday night as his Cameroon side took on Eswatini in a World Cup qualifying match. Despite the game being a 0-0 bore draw, Onana managed to stand out.
However, the 28-year-old goalie didn't stand out for his saves or clean sheet effort. Instead, it was his attacking instincts that came to the forefront.
The six-foot-three Cameroonian ran all the way from his penalty box to just outside the oppositions penalty area where Mbuemo was lining up a free-kick from a good position.
Onana could be seen both shouting at his players in the box and whispering to Mbuemo. The important and bemusing thing was that they were all listening to him as if he was the free-kick maestro in the team.
But Onana giving his advice to his Cameroon teammates shows they look up to the goalkeeper as a leader, which isn't at all surprising. The 28-year-old has been playing in the highest leagues in Europe since his debut season for Ajax in 2016.
Although there is further Premier League talent within the Cameroon squad such as Mbuemo and Brighton's Carlos Baleba, Onana is the most experienced out of the three.
Cameroon supporters would have likely taken a sigh of relief when they saw Onana stepping away from the ball and not actually take the free-kick, that was left to Brentford's Mbuemo.
Onana's national side are currently second in their World Cup qualifying group. In the crucial best second place teams, they are fourth - occupying a qualifying spot. In their group they are one of two remaining undefeated teams.
