**Newcastle United put an end to 56 years of trophyless misery on Sunday by lifting the League Cup. Their first domestic silverware in 70 years.**
For a club of Newcastle's stature, to go that long without winning a trophy and for it to finally end is nothing short of monumental, yet there are those who refuse to let us have our moment.
Simon Jordan, despite his insistence that he's happy for Newcastle, has aimed several digs at the Magpies' celebrations and, more specifically, the fans of rival clubs sending their heartfelt congratulations.
Paul Scholes tried to belittle the achievement by saying it's the cup that big teams try to get knocked out of.

> “All the top players immediately focus on what’s coming up next. Top players don’t celebrate mid-season, if you do that, it’s when you’re on the open top bus in May or June. You have to focus on what's next.

We aren't the ones who schedule a cup final mid-season, but why should we have to sit on that accomplishment for another two months before we're allowed to celebrate?
