Daniel Farke won’t want any new injury concerns at Leeds United during the international break.

The Whites already have a thin squad in certain areas and further issues could dent the effort to earn promotion to the Premier League.

Ethan Ampadu is already set to miss the majority of the remaining games and the hope will be that no further issues are picked up at Elland Road.

Farke may not be that lucky and one eye will be kept on Dan James after a new injury issue emerged during the international break.

Farke can’t afford James injury at Leeds

There is no doubt that the 27-year-old has been one of the best players for the table-topping Whites this campaign.

The number seven in LS11 has contributed to 19 goals in the Championship off the right flank and will be keen to add to this in the final eight games of the season.

If James is to do so, he’ll have to avoid any injury issues with Wales during World Cup Qualifiers against Kazakhstan and North Macedonia this week.

Farke will be keeping an eye out to make sure that his one of his star players maintains his fitness level during the break, unlike his winger counterpart in LS11.

Wilfried Gnonto was forced off for Italy under-21s on Friday (21 March) against the Netherlands before half time after hurting his ankle.

The 21-year-old forward slipped while trying to control the ball and collided with a defender and after trying to carry on, was taken off and went straight down the tunnel.

Farke won’t want James to face a similar fate while on duty with Wales.

Leeds need James for Championship run-in

There is plenty of quality in the squad in LS11 but that doesn’t reduce the need for the majority of players being fit and available.

Manor Solomon has dealt with various issues and it looks like Gnonto is set to join him in that.

This will represent a blow for the Whites and could prove to be highly damaging with so few games remaining in the season.

Promotion is in Farke’s hands, he just needs to push his side over the line to stay ahead of Sheffield United and Burnley in the top two race.

James’ attacking qualities and explosive pace is going to be hugely important to doing so and as a result, the Elland Road club can’t afford him to pick up an injury issue during the break.
