Shane Murphy gets his first start in goal this year while Barry Dan O’Sullivan comes into midfield to replace the injured Diarmuid O’Connor; Kerry hurling team to play Tyrone also named
Kerry are in the somewhat unusual position in that they could qualify for a place in the Division 1 final the following weekend, or they could be relegated to Division 2 – all depending on what way the results from the four round 7 games play out.
In O’Connor’s absence, Barry Dan O’Sullivan is named at midfield, where he will play alongside Sean O’Brien, who featured there last weekend against Armagh.
Joe O’Connor played in a wing-forward position against Armagh last weekend, where the Austin Stacks man seemed to revel in the role, with O’Brien playing as a more conventional midfielder alongside Diarmuid O’Connor. Joe O’Connor is named at no.12 for Sunday’s game in Pearse Stadium, Salthill.
The other change to the starting 15 see Shane Murphy get his first start in goal, with the Dr Crokes man coming in to replace Shane Ryan.
The substitutes bench is very similar to who was there last weekend against Armagh, but defenders Evan Looney (Dr Crokes) and Tom Leo O’Sullivan (Dingle) are listed among the 13 subs.
The Kerry hurling team to play Tyrone in their final NHL Division 2 game in the Tyrone Centre of Excellence in Garavaghey on Saturday at 2.30pm has also been named (see below).
