Burnley are fighting to return to the Premier League after being relegated last season.
The Championship side are currently in third place, sitting a comfortable 21 points above sixth to get them into the play-offs for promotion.
However, they’re only two points off of Leeds United and Sheffield United who are tied in first and second on 80 points.
As such, Burnley still have a shot at winning the league or coming runner-up to grab an automatic promotion.
Now, the Turf Moor side has raided the Manchester United academy, poaching one of the Scanlon brothers.
FIFA has reported that the younger of the brothers, Luca Scanlon has moved from Old Trafford to Turf Moor, joining the Under-17s side.
Both James and Luca represent Gibraltar, with James becoming the national team’s youngest-ever scorer with his first goal in a 2-2 UEFA Nations League draw against Liechtenstein.
Speaking to FIFA about playing for Gibraltar with his younger brother, James Scanlon commented: “It’s really exciting, actually, because I played with him a bit when I was a lot younger, for school teams and that.”
He continued: “My parents always say how it would be their proudest moment, and it’s their dream to have me and my brother play together. If me and him ever played for the national team together, I think that would top it off for my parents.”
With Luca Scanlon being only 15 years old, the youngster has the opportunity to beat his older brother’s record as the national team’s youngest goal scorer.
Now, Luca is set for life away from his older brother as he hopes to come through the ranks and make a name for himself in the Burnley academy, just like James has as he looks to break through into the senior United squad.
