According to a report from NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Falcons starting linebacker signs with the Tennessee Titans.
Lorenzo Carter is now a member of the Titans after spending the last three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. The 29-year-old recorded 125 tackles (76 solo), seven sacks, 23 QB hits, two forced fumbles, and one interception over 47 games (29 starts).
Carter has sat at home during the free agency period unsigned by Atlanta, which was expected after the Falcons signed Leonard Floyd and Divine Deablo before this move.
The Falcons have spent countless hours shoring up the defense with the departures mentioned above, including the departures of Falcons linebacker Nate Landman and defensive end Grady Jarrett.
Carter, a third-round pick out of the University of Georgia, was a welcomed sight in Atlanta. Fans love to see homegrown athletes from the school in an Atlanta uniform. He came into the league as a member of the New York Giants and was a third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Since entering the league, Carter has recorded 170 solo tackles, 21.5 sacks, and five forced fumbles. The Titans are also looking to the defensive side of the ball during free agency. This signing will mark their tenth since free agency began.
Tennessee struggled to stop the run during the 2024-25 campaign and allowed 27.1 points per game, ranking 30th in the NFL. A feeling that Carter knows all too well with the dismal effort of the defense in Atlanta over the past few years. Having not graded well at the position last year, Carter will look to fill the gaps in the second level of the Tennessee Titans defense.
