It’s likely defensive tackle Derrick Harmon will be the first Oregon player selected in next month’s NFL draft.
Harmon, who had career-highs with 45 tackles (10.5 for loss) with five sacks, four pass breakups and two forced fumbles last season, performed well during the season and at the NFL combine.

Follow the initial wave of NFL free agency, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. has Harmon going to the Pittsburgh Steelers with the No. 21 pick in the draft.
“The way he played this year coming over in the transfer portal, a guy for the Steelers, Cam Heyward getting up there in age now,” Kiper said. “That’s a positional need area for them. They’ve got the receiver now with (DK) Metcalf, so they don’t have to go that spot. That’s why I have Harmon going to the Steelers at that particular point.”
Harmon had a formal meeting with the Steelers, as well as Kansas City, during the combine.
