Inigo Martinez is said to be eager to return from injury next week and play for Barcelona against Osasuna in the rescheduled La Liga fixture.
The defender has been sidelined with a knee injury which ruled him out of Spain’s Nations League fixtures against the Netherlands.
It was originally estimated that Martinez would miss 2-3 weeks but it now seems he could return ahead of schedule.
According to AS, it’s a “very minor injury” and Martinez is determined to play against Osasuna, particularly with Ronald Araujo likely out and Pau Cubarsi also a doubt.
The initial thinking seems to be that Cubarsi will miss the Osasuna game but but could return at the weekend against Girona.
Martinez could then line up alongside Eric Garcia in defence against Osasuna but only if he can prove his fitness to Hansi Flick.
Andreas Christensen is the only other option. He is set to return to training next week but may not be available for selection until the start of April.
