Giants Make $16 Million QB Move Amid Aaron Rodgers Rumors

The New York Giants have been looking for a new starting quarterback option. Aaron Rodgers has been the big name connected to the franchise, but they have been exploring other options as well.

On Friday, Rodgers decided to make a trip to Pittsburgh to meet with the Steelers. With the Minnesota Vikings out on Rodgers, Pittsburgh quickly became the favorite to land the future Hall of Fame quarterback.

Following the reported meeting, the Giants have now made a quarterback move.

According to a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, New York has agreed to a two-year, $16 million contract with free agent veteran quarterback Jameis Winston.

Winston recently took a visit with the Giants. He was clearly a player that New York felt could be an option.

During the 2024 NFL season with the Cleveland Browns, Winston was called upon to start a good number of games following Deshaun Watson's Achilles injury.

He played in 12 total games, completing 61.1% of his pass attempts for 2,121 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

In addition to his passing numbers, Winston also ran for 83 yards and a touchdown.

At 31 years old, Winston may not be the only quarterback move New York makes this offseason. He's the definition of a bridge quarterback. The Giants could opt to use the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft on a signal caller like Shedeur Sanders if he's available.

Either way, as of right now Winston has been signed and is currently the best quarterback on the roster.
