New York Giants Sign Jameis Winston to 2-Year Deal

The New York Giants have signed unrestricted free agent quarterback **Jameis Winston** (Cleveland Browns). The deal is reportedly a 2-year, $8 million contract.

The 31-year old, 6’4”, 231-pound Winston was originally drafted in the 1st round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has spent time with the Buccaneers (2015-2019), New Orleans Saints (2020-2023), and Browns (2024). In his 10-year career, Winston has played in 105 regular-season games with 87 starts. He is 36-51 as a starter, throwing for 24,225 yards, 154 touchdowns, and 111 interceptions. In 2024, he was 2-5 for the Browns, throwing for 2,121 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

Winston is a big quarterback with a strong arm. He is capable of excellent games but also struggles with accuracy and interceptions.

Earlier this offseason, the Giants attempted to trade for quarterback **Matthew Stafford** (Los Angeles Rams), offering draft compensation and a new contract, but were rejected. The Giants pivoted and reportedly made a significant contract offer to free agent QB **Aaron Rodgers**, but Rodgers has not accepted and he visited the Pittsburgh Steelers today. Last week, unrestricted free agent quarterbacks **Joe Flacco** (Indianapolis Colts), **Russell Wilson** (Pittsburgh Steelers), and Winston visited the Giants.

_The NFL Network_ is reporting that the signing of Winston “does not change the Giants’ pursuit of Aaron Rodgers or alter any other possible QB routes.”
