A Manchester United forward has been linked with an exit from Old Trafford this summer

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund is reportedly the subject of interest from five clubs across Italy and Germany, as his representatives ‘work on’ a potential summer exit from Old Trafford.

Hojlund ended his goal drought at club level with a goal in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Leicester City. He followed that up with a goal for his country, as he netted in Denmark’s Nations League clash with Portugal on Thursday night.

The former Atalanta United player has scored just three goals in 24 Premier League games this season while his goal tally in all competitions stands at eight in 39 appearances. He also has two assists to his name this season, with both of those coming in the Europa League.

Hojlund agents working on summer exit

According to TBR Football, Hojlund’s representatives are working on a potential summer exit with a number of clubs said to be showing an interest in the player. Serie A sides Napoli and Juventus are two clubs linked. Both Italian outfits will be seeking a new striker come the summer with Victor Osimhen poised to leave Napoli while Juventus are widely believed to be considering offloading Dusan Vlahovic at the end of the season.

The report from TBR Football has revealed three clubs in Germany are also expressing an interest. One of those is Bayer Leverkusen, who are the reigning Bundesliga champions but look set to miss out on the title to Bayern Munich this time around. RB Leipzig and Mainz 05 are also linked with a move for Hojlund come the summer. Leipzig could lose Benjamin Sesko this summer, with the Slovenian striker linked with a move to the Premier League.

Napoli are on course to qualify for the Champions League next season while Juventus’ spot in the top four from Serie A is far from guaranteed as they currently sit fifth. Leverkusen look set to qualify for the Champions League while Mainz and Leipzig are locked in a close-run race for the other top four spots in Germany.

What has Amorim said about Hojlund?

Speaking after Hojlund ended his goal drought, United boss Ruben Amorim said on Sunday: "The most important thing for me is the work that they are putting in, especially defending. They are improving so much, but they live from assists and scoring goals. Rasmus [Hojlund] today, his goal was really good, really good control, with his right foot and then [Alejandro] Garnacho, he is also always trying to score a goal. He deserved that feeling."

Last month, Amorim had said that Hojlund’s goal drought was not only down to the player but rather a team problem. He said at the end of February: "It's clear, as a team, we are not helping Rasmus. We don't create a lot of chances. Rasmus has a lot of potential. If we improve the way we play the game, he will have more opportunities to score. He came here very young and, when you are very young, to be the number nine and play all the time sometimes is hard.

"We have to look as Rasmus as a player: he has the pace, he has the technique, he scores some goals that are really hard to score. Sometimes he doesn't choose the better runs, sometimes he's so anxious to touch the ball because there are long minutes without the ball and he moves away from the goal. We address that in training. He has the ability - he already showed that here - but I think it's more a team thing than a Rasmus thing."
