‘Taste of the Draft’ event to feature celebrity chefs, Packers alumni

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - New details are being released about the inaugural “Taste of the Draft” set to take place at Schreiber Foods in Green Bay on the eve of the draft.

It will feature supper clubs from around the state and some of the work that will be done by the celebrity guests.

An event that is run yearly at the Super Bowl, the “Taste of the NFL”, will travel to Green Bay on April 23rd for its first-ever draft experience. The NFL is partnering with the Green Bay Packers, Schreiber Foods, and non-profit GENYouth to help battle student hunger in Wisconsin.

“Schreiber Foods is honored and excited to be the presenting sponsor and host for Taste of the Draft. At Schreiber, we’re committed to Doing Good Through Food. It’s not just our vision; it’s our call to action. As an employee-owned company with roots right here in Green Bay where we’ve been in operation for 80 years, Taste of the Draft provides a unique opportunity for us to continue to make a meaningful impact in our own backyard and across Wisconsin communities,” said Ron Dunford, President and Chief Executive Officer, Schreiber Foods Inc.

Maureen Bausch, an organizer for “Taste of the Draft”, says the event will bring fun-filled activities to guests before they even enter the doors of Schreiber Foods.

“You’ll hear the polka music, and you’ll see the polka dancers, and you’ll grab an old fashioned before you even get signed in. We’ll give you a football and we give you a wrist band so on the way out we can get you a gift bag,” says Bausch.

From main dishes to soft serve desserts, the “taste” itself will come from the flavors of unique plates of 20 Wisconsin supper clubs, including nine from all throughout northeast Wisconsin.

Celebrity chefs Andrew Zimmern, Mark Bucher, and Paul Bartolotta will also bring their own dishes to the event.

“I am honored to serve as culinary host of Taste of the Draft in support of GENYOUth’s mission to nourish Wisconsin’s kids and tackle food insecurity. There is nothing more important than the fight to end student hunger. I invite everyone to experience the culinary joy of the supper club at Taste of the Draft, which is modeled after Taste of the NFL, a purpose-driven event I have hosted for 20 years,” said Chef Andrew Zimmern.

Several Packer greats including LeRoy Butler, Jerry Kramer, James Lofton, Dave Robinson, and Ahman Green will be in attendance, but those aren’t the only Packer alumni that will be there.

“Three Fat Guys Winery with the three fat guys. They were linemen with the Packers, so then you’ll be able to taste their wines,” says Bausch.

The event does cost a pretty penny, $800 per ticket before fees, but Bausch says that ticket will get you great food and an unforgettable experience, most importantly, all proceeds will go towards grants for schools to help serve their students in need.

“To use an event like the draft to raise money for schools is such a cool idea and I’m proud of the Packers for doing so,” says Bausch.

“The Green Bay Packers are pleased to take part in Taste of the Draft, elevating Wisconsin’s unique culture and culinary traditions while fostering long lasting community impact in conjunction with the 2025 NFL Draft,” said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy. “GENYOUth’s mission complements our Packers Give Back focus on developing youth, strengthening communities, and highlighting the positive impact of our current and former players. Thanks to the enthusiastic support of Schreiber Foods and other Draft donors, we can’t wait to watch our community shine during the Draft.”
