NBA Reacts to Historic Kevin Durant News

The Phoenix Suns may have been a disappointment ever since they traded for Kevin Durant two years ago, but Durant himself has been continuing to play excellent basketball ever since.

He came into Friday averaging 26.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists a game while shooting 52.6% from the field and 41.6% from 3-point range. The memory of him tearing his Achilles during the 2019 NBA Finals is starting to fade, and he has managed to remain a superstar at the age of 36.

In Friday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Durant moved past another Kevin - Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett - into 13th on the list of most career field goals made in NBA history. The league honored this milestone with a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Next on the list is former Boston Celtics star John Havlicek, and Durant could surpass him and move into 12th on the list as soon as the Suns' next game, which will take place on Monday against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Suns defeated the Cavaliers, who have the Eastern Conference's best record, 123-112 on Friday, as Durant went off for 42 points. The win allowed them to leapfrog the Dallas Mavericks to move into 10th place in the Western Conference with a 34-37 record.

Amidst their struggles this season, they reportedly looked into trading Durant prior to the trade deadline in February, and it is widely believed they will explore such a trade again this summer.

But for now, he continues to add to his legacy, at least individually.
