Newcastle United ace Dan Burn reckons there's no reason why he can't feature at next summer's World Cup finals under Thomas Tuchel.

The 6ft 7in centre-back showed his qualities for much of the 2-0 win against Albania and dominated with the ball. But for two moments of fatigue in the second half, Blyth warrior Burn had a steady debut and he looks set to face Latvia on Monday night back at Wembley for Tuchel's second game in charge.

Burn, speaking to reporters in the mixed zone after the final whistle, said: "It was an amazing night to walk out at Wembley and sing the national anthem.

"To get to start a game for England is something that I dreamt of when I was a kid. I'm gutted I didn't score again.

"Maybe I am being a bit greedy because I have had a pretty good week. It was a good performance, Albania are a pretty decent team and put a lot of people behind the ball.

"As a first game under a new manager I think it was pretty good."

Burn almost marked his debut with a goal when he struck the bar from a Declan Rice corner in the first half.

Burn added: "Yes I did. Unfortunately it didn't go in. When I score I go on a little run, so I feel now whenever there's a corner coming in I am going to get to it and at least hit the target so hopefully I get one soon!

"I have played a lot of games so I feel pretty confident. I have trained pretty well and settled into the group quickly.

"It helped playing here at the weekend it settled my nerves."

And looking ahead to the World Cup finals in the US, Canada and Mexico, Burn said: "Now that I have had that first taste of international football, I am desperate to play more. I'd love to go to the World Cup but there are six camps before that.

"I am going to have to play at a high level to keep it going. It was important to be in that first XI.

"I know that I need to keep that going."
