Thailand ‘profoundly concerned’ over Israel’s renewed war on Gaza

**ISTANBUL**

Thailand said on Friday that it is “profoundly concerned” over Israel’s renewed war on Gaza, calling for a cease to the “hostilities.”

“Thailand is profoundly concerned about and disappointed at the return to hostilities in the Gaza Strip since 18 March 2025, resulting in heavy casualty of innocent civilians, injuries, and severe damage to critical infrastructure and public utilities,” said a statement from the Foreign Ministry.

Bangkok urged all sides to “exercise utmost restraint, cease the hostilities and resume negotiations to implement the ceasefire and hostage agreement," while also calling for facilitation of the humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

The Foreign Ministry called for the “release of the remaining hostages in the Gaza Strip” as soon as possible, particularly one Thai national, and also the retrieval of the bodies of two Thai nationals.

More than 700 Palestinians have been killed and over 900 injured in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza since Tuesday, shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had held since January.

Nearly 50,000 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and over 112,000 injured in Israel’s military onslaught on Gaza since October 2023.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
