A look at the Premier League team of the season so far with just nine games remaining.

The Premier League is now in its final break period of the season, with the international break now in full flow. When the English top flight does return, the vast majority of clubs will have just nine games remaining to put together a big finish.

Those games could go some way in deciding the Premier League’s team of the season, but thanks to WhoScored’s ratings, we already have an idea who the frontrunners might be. Here we take you through them.

Goalkeeper

Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken is currently the leading goalkeeper according to the ratings, with an average rating of 7.1. The Bees stopper has been consistent throughout the campaign, even if he is not close to leading the clean sheets table.

Defenders

We have just one London-based representative in the back four, with Fulham’s Antonee Robinson in at left-back with a rating of 7.1. Robinson has been excellent this season, and there is already talk of interest in his services.

Elsewhere in the back line, James Tarkowski of Everton and Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold also feature with the same rating of 7.1.

Midfielders

Chelsea’s Cole Palmer makes it into the midfield with an average rating of 7.4 having been hugely productive this season. Palmer has 14 goals and six assists in the Premier League. Elsewhere in the midfield, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes and AFC Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo make the cut with averages of 7.2. The remaining starter is Liverpool’s almost unstoppable Mo Salah, who has a mouth-watering rating of 7.9.

Strikers

Up top we have arguably the best two strikers in the Premier League, and none of them belong to London clubs. Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland both make it with ratings of 7.4.
