Manchester United defender Ayden Heaven could return from injury before the end of the season following news that the problem picked up against Leicester City is not thought to be serious.

The centre-back was stretchered off early in the second half last weekend and seemed to be in serious pain. Heaven was spotted leaving the King Power Stadium with a protective boot after full-time.

In recent weeks, Heaven has shown what he can do at senior level after making his debut for the club earlier this month. The international break has offered him the opportunity to recover before the final stretch of the season.

Here, The Manchester Evening News summarises everything you need to know about how his current fitness is below...

Return boost

The Manchester Evening News understands that Heaven is out of his protective boot and has a chance of returning to training after the current international break.

United are not in action until April 1, when they travel to Nottingham Forest, giving the young defender plenty of time to recover and make the matchday squad.

Amorim stance

Heaven has only played four times for United since his January move from Arsenal.

He has impressed Ruben Amorim and has been handed a run in the first-team as a result of injuries elsewhere.

“Yeah, he already did that [showed promise] against Arsenal and today, and against Real Sociedad," said Amorim. “Today was for me the most difficult game for him, because he plays so well against Real Sociedad, and we expect always for these young kids to relax a little bit. But he was so focused and he played quite well, so let’s hope for the best.”

Heaven message

In the following days after his injury, Heaven posted a message on Instagram that read: “Thank you guys for all the support! I have read all your messages, and I'm doing really well and recovering fast."
