Argentine media react to Enzo Fernandez's 'tireless' performance for his country in 1-0 win vs Uruguay

Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez is unlikely to get much rest over the international break because he’s a key player for his country.

Enzo Fernandez, 24, is a vital figure in the Chelsea squad this season. On top of that, the midfield general plays a major role on the international stage for Argentina.

It’s a testament to his level that Real Madrid are keen on signing Fernandez, but the Blues should be ignoring the interest.

In Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, Chelsea do have one of the strongest central midfields in the Premier League right now.

During the early hours of Saturday morning, Argentina secured an important 1-0 away victory over rivals Uruguay in a World Cup qualifying match. Lyon’s Thiago Almada scored the match-winning goal in a fiery contest.

South American giants Argentina are the defending champions of the World Cup, so they should be optimistic of their chances once they deal with qualification.

Chelsea star Fernandez played the full game in Argentina’s success against Uruguay, earning praise from the national media for his individual contribution.

TYC Sports wrote: “Enzo Fernandez – 7/10. Like the entire team, he had a great second half. He searched for his goal, but above all, he took control of the game alongside Alexis [Mac Allister] and [Leandro] Paredes. Tireless.”

Jason Cundy recently noticed a change in Fernandez by spotting him becoming much more of a leader on the football pitch. It definitely feels like he’s maturing after two years at Stamford Bridge.

Whenever he puts on the Argentine jersey, it does feel like he often thrives and plays his best football.
