They are set to sign a winger, striker and centre-midfielder as they aim to strengthen in attacking areas to score more goals, after struggling to find regular goal-scorers this season.

They have been heavily linked to signing Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, but new reports have suggested that the Gunners could looks elsewhere and try to hijack a Chelsea transfer.

According to the Sun, Arsenal are interested in Chelsea transfer target Pablo Barrios from Atletico Madrid, and could swoop in to hijack any deal that the Blues are hoping to get done for the 21-year-old.

Barrios can play in both an attacking and defensive role in midfield, and has made 31 appearances for Atletico Madrid this season, providing two assists.

The 21-year-old is valued at around £42 million, and could provide Arsenal with a cheaper alternative to Zubimendi, who also has a high potential due to his age.

Zubimendi and Barrios aren’t the only centre-midfielders that the Gunners have been linked to in recent weeks, as reports have suggested that they could sign Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes.

The Brazilian was linked to Manchester City in the summer last year, but it now seems like he would be joining Arsenal if he wanted to leave St James’ Park.

Guimaraes has made 37 appearances this season for the Magpies, scoring three goals and providing eight assists.
