Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones was given an immediate chance to impress new England manager Thomas Tuchel on Friday night when the Three Lions took on Albania at Wembley Stadium. Jones was named in the starting line-up for the third game in a row.
Goals from debutant Myles Lewis-Skelly and Harry Kane either side of half time gave England a 2-0 win. Jones played 74 minutes of the game before being replaced by Morgan Rogers.
Jones has impressed with his performances for Liverpool this season. He is now looking to make an impact on the international stage with England, it seems that his performance against Albania did him no harm, despite not being spectacular.

BBC Sport gave Jones a 6 out of 10 rating for his performance. “Just a third start for Jones but showed, in flashes, why he has been a key part of Liverpool's midfield this season,” their assessment said.
“Linked the play well and looked to get into the box when he could. A quiet second half before being replaced in the 74th minute.”
The Guardian, meanwhile gave him a 7 out of 10 in their ratings. Their verdict said: “On the ball a lot during the early stages and set the tone with some fierce pressing. Needed more finesse in final third.”
The Liverpool man was also given a seven out of 10 for his performance by the Daily Mail. “Former Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders said last year that England should build their midfield around Jones, Rice and Bellingham — and Tuchel clearly took note,” it read.
Seven was the most common score for Jones, with the Express also giving that to the midfielder. They wrote: “Buzzed around in midfield in bid to keep England moving forward, but overcomplicated things at times.”
Jones will hope to get another chance to start for England under Tuchel when the Three Lions are back in action on Monday. They take on Latvia at Wembley Stadium in their second World Cup qualifier in the 7.45pm kick-off.
