NBA Insider Believes Celtics Could Trade Two of Their Stars

The Boston Celtics are once again one of the best teams in the NBA. After winning the NBA Finals last year, they are once again a team to watch to potentially repeat as champions.

Heading into the final stretch of the regular season, the Celtics hold a 51-19 record, which places them as the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Boston also underwent an ownership change this week. Bill Chisholm of Symphony Technology Group came in and bought the team for $6.1 billion.

With ownership change can come major changes to a franchise. There is a chance that the Celtics could be open for some business during the NBA offseason.

Zach Harper of The Athletic believes that Boston could look to ship some of their high-paid players out of town. He also mentioned two names to keep an eye on.

Those two names were star guard Jrue Holiday and big man Kristaps Porzingis.

"They could start by trading Jrue Holiday this summer. It would bring them below the second apron and just above the first apron," he wrote. "It would greatly reduce that tax penalty, and they'd probably see enough flexibility to bring Al Horford and/or Luke Kornet back on reasonable deals. But we're still looking at the Celtics having to eventually break up parts of this team. It wouldn't be shocking to see Kristaps Porziņģis go soon, as he has one year left on his deal."

Both players would be extremely intriguing trade chips if they're made available.

Holiday has played in 53 games this season. He has averaged 11.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, while shooting 44.2% from the floor and 33.7% from 3-point range.

Porzingis, on the other hand, has averaged 19.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.6 blocks per game in 34 outings. He has shot 48.3% overall and 39.1% from the 3-point line.
