On this day 11 years ago, Chelsea and Arsenal clashed in a Premier League match that will never be forgotten.
The rivalry between London giants Chelsea and Arsenal has been super competitive over the years, particularly in the 21st century.
It’s the Gunners that have the edge over the Blues when comparing the history of the fixture.

There are a number of high-profile footballers to represent both clubs over the years, including the likes of Ashley Cole, Cesc Fabregas, Petr Cech and Olivier Giroud. Incidentally, David Luiz’s move from Chelsea to Arsenal in 2019 was only agreed after he had already decided to exit the Blues.

Chelsea thrashed Arsenal in a 6-0 win 11 years ago
Back on 22 March 2014, Chelsea hosted neighbours Arsenal in a Premier League contest at Stamford Bride.
It should’ve been a celebration for Arsene Wenger during his 1000th game as the Gunners manager, but he’ll remember the trip to Chelsea that day for all the wrong reasons.
The Blues decimated Arsenal by recording a 6-0 league victory at home.

In the 2013/14 season, Chelsea finished third and just three points above fourth-placed Arsenal. It’s what made the 6-0 demolition at the Bridge even stranger.
MORE CHELSEA STORIES
Jose Mourinho, whose second spell as Chelsea manager took place between 2013 and 2015, would go on to win another league title in the 2014/15 campaign. Perhaps the writing was on the wall when you see to what they did to Arsenal in March the season before.
During a recent interview, John Terry said Mourinho didn’t change at Chelsea across his two spells managing the club.

Chelsea vs Arsenal in the modern day
Unfortunately, Arsenal have pulled away from Chelsea when comparing the two teams in recent seasons. It’s very frustrating that the Blues only beaten them once in their previous 12 meetings across all competitions.
Enzo Maresca’s side signed off before March’s international break with a disappointing 1-0 loss at the Emirates Stadium, which means they’re currently nine points adrift of Arsenal in the Premier League table.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admires Chelsea’s football under Maresca this season, but it’s quite obvious that there are still a few teething problems during his first year in the Blues dugout.
The biggest difference between Arsenal and Chelsea right now can be highlighted by the fact that the former are in the Champions League quarter-finals while the latter are in the Conference League quarter-finals.
