Darren Bent has fired a warning that Arsenal must start winning trophies if they want to keep hold of their top talented young players, including Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Lewis-Skelly, 18, made his England debut on Friday and impressed as he scored during their 2-0 win over Albania. The Three Lions, in Thomas Tuchel's first game in charge, started their World Cup qualifying campaign off with a comfortable success at Wembley - and Lewis-Skelly was their standout performer.
In fact, the Arsenal youngster marked an impressive first appearance for England with the Player of the Match prize. As well as scoring the Three Lions' opener with a neat finish, he was a constant threat on the left-hand side and did his defensive duties well, too, even if Albania weren't much of an attacking threat.
After enjoying a fine breakthrough season at Arsenal, Lewis-Skelly's future is looking bright and the Gunners are no doing hoping that he can have a successful long career with the club. However, Bent has issued a stern warning that Mikel Arteta's side "best win something soon" or they could face players leaving.
Speaking on talkSPORT after England's win against Albania, Bent said: "Honestly the first thing I thought of is that 'Arsenal best win something soon' because with the amount of youngsters that are coming through at that football club, he's just another one from Hale End.
"He looks comfortable in possession, scored a great goal, showed great composure when he got in the box to finish that chance off but he has been doing it ever since he made his debut for Arsenal as well.
"For someone that is so young, playing at Wembley for England, the new manager's first game in charge, he starts you and you put in that level of performance, that tells me he has full confidence in his own ability, that his teammates have got confidence in his ability and it's just can he keep hold of that shirt.
"I believe it's his now to hold on to. But I get it, if Luke Shaw can get himself fit, Chilwell we know his relationship with Thomas Tuchel, you've got Lewis Hall at Newcastle as well.
"But if you're looking to put in a performance that tells the manager that I am ready to make that position my own I thought Lewis-Skelly did that this evening and was fantastic."
